The upgrade decision
Kit Free vs Creator: the automation decision
Kit Free is a serious option for a creator who mainly publishes broadcasts. Creator becomes relevant when you need email sequences, visual automations or other paid features—not simply because your newsletter has begun earning money.
The current Free documentation includes up to 10,000 subscribers, unlimited broadcasts, forms and landing pages, plus tagging and digital-product selling. It puts sequences and visual automations behind a paid plan. Creator Network recommendations start enabled but can be turned off without losing Free-plan access. Kit Free plan.
A broadcast and a sequence solve different jobs
A weekly broadcast is a message you choose to send to an audience at a particular time. A sequence is a prewritten series intended to run for a subscriber over time. If every new subscriber should receive lessons on days one, three and five, that requirement changes the plan decision.
Before upgrading, sketch that sequence on paper. Name the trigger, the three messages and the condition that stops a buyer receiving an irrelevant sales email. If you cannot yet describe the sequence, a paid automation engine may not be your immediate constraint.
| Your need | Plan to investigate |
|---|---|
| One weekly issue, basic segmentation, occasional product links | Free |
| Automated welcome or launch series | Creator |
| A custom integration | Verify that integration's plan and data requirements first |
| Advanced subscriber and deliverability reporting | Compare Creator with Pro separately |
We have not run a deliverability trial or proved that an automation increases revenue.
Price the right subscriber tier
At 1,000 subscribers, Creator is $39 month to month or $390 paid annually. The annual price is $32.50 per month when divided by twelve, even though the merchant rounds the display to $33. The $390 is an upfront annual bill, not twelve $32.50 payments. Kit pricing, Kit billing.
A creator with 8,000 subscribers on Free must obtain the matching paid-tier quote. Using the 1,000-subscriber entry price would understate that migration cost. List growth and prorated upgrades can change later bills.
The published refund policy allows requests for payments within the previous 30 days, including annual payments. It does not offer prorated refunds for older annual payments. Check the policy and your order terms before committing for a year. Kit billing.
Use Free until a clear paid requirement matters; then test that requirement with owned content during the available trial. Do not interpret a trial or affiliate link as an additional permanent discount. Checked 14 September 2026; no account-specific checkout or firsthand product test was performed for this comparison.
